This summer will mark 100 years since the start of world war i. Europeans plunged themselves into a deadly conflict that quickly pulled the world into its trenches. As the war dragged on, there was a high demand for soldiers and workers. The european armies turned abroad for help. Some 700,000 Foreign Workers came to france alone, most of them from other parts of europe and also the colonies in africa and asia.
