After three Hartford residents died in a two-car crash on Simsbury Road on Christmas Day, West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor called for the creation of a traffic and pedestrian safety task force to address the deaths occurring on West Hartford roadways.

The number of pedestrians dying in car crashes is on the rise. At least 16 have been killed so far this year. And concern is growing that 2022 could be one of the deadliest years.
