Three Dorset beach huts have been set alight and 30 more have been broken into in a spate of targeted burglaries and arson attacks, police said.
Three beach huts in Hengistbury Head, Christchurch, which are some of the UK's most expensive, were destroyed by fire in the early hours of this morning.
Dorset Police were alerted to a report that three beach huts were on fire at 2.40am today by the fire service.
On attending officers established that a further 30 of the 360 beach huts on the picturesque Mudeford Spit had been broken into, with doors and windows smashed.

But a new study warns that the number of oceanic sharks and rays worldwide has plummeted by 71 per cent since 1970, with overfishing likely to blame.
Worryingly, the researchers say that more than three quarters of ocean shark and ray species are now at a risk of extinction as a result.
The team hopes the findings will encourage governments to implement catch limits to help promote species recovery.

A Texan man has built his own bionic hand using artificial intelligence (AI) after three years of research.
After finding most bionic hands can cost up to $150,000, Ryan Saavedra, 27, set out to create one at a fraction of the cost.
The prosthetic he created, called the Globally Available Robotic Arm (GARA), measures electrical activity of muscle tissue – a method called electromyography (EMG) – and combines this with AI to predict hand movements.
When attached to the limb of an amputee, it is capable of intuitive finger movements and clasping objects such as cups.
