Although it seems like a lifetime ago, just a year has passed since we last gathered with members of the General Assembly for the annual State of the State address.
Last year, I spoke about how Maryland was setting a shining example for the rest of America because of our shared conviction that there is no problem we face that hard work, honesty, and courage cannot solve if we work together.
Over this past year, as we have faced unimaginable challenges, those words were truly put to the test. But together we rose to the challenge, and it is because of the courage, the sacrifices, and the strength of the people of Maryland that the state of our state is more resilient than it has ever been before.

As of Tuesday, they can say they are some of the first in the state to be fully vaccinated, after receiving their second and final doses of the coronavirus vaccine.“We all want this to end, so it was nice to be able to represent my department, represent my community. So it was definitely a great feeling,” said Daisy Solares, a respiratory therapist.Solares works on the front lines with coronavirus patients, seeing the havoc this virus can wreak, also in her own family her father died from the virus in May 2020.“I did this for my dad and for everyone else we ve lost, you know.
