have been taking place already in the early hours. we are going to sword beach. declan harvey is there for us, declan. you witnessed one of the first events of the d—day anniversary. just as the sun was coming up on sword beach, a piperfrom the royal irish regiment walked across this sand to remember the events here 80 years ago. there was a piper in 1944 as well, and by that time pipers were still relatively unusual, but they were here on dd. sword beach is they were here on dd. sword beach is the furthest east of all five landing beaches. it is a lot more flat perhaps than some of the other beaches, it does not have the major sand dunes or beachheads. that the
