Kuala Lumpur: Get past the balance beam and you’re good to go, says national women’s artistic gymnastics head coach Ng Shu Wai to Farah Ann Abdul Hadi.
With less than a week to go before Farah Ann springs into action in her Olympics debut in Tokyo, Shu Wai admitted that the gymnast is still struggling to find her footing on the balance beam.
“Farah Ann’s fate in Tokyo Olympics hangs on the balance beam. I just hope that she won’t make a big mistake in that apparatus,” he said when contacted.

Kuala Lumpur: The national athletes are beginning to feel the Tokyo Olympic Games atmosphere now that they have set foot at the Games Village in Tokyo on Sunday.
However, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has provided the national athletes with a different kind of experience compared to previous editions, with all of them having to comply with strict standard operating procedures (SOP) from the moment they touched down at the Narita International Airport at about 8am on Sunday.
National diver Nur Dhabitah Sabri, 22, said that the moment they arrived at the airport, they had to fill up various forms and undergo Covid-19 screening through saliva tests before boarding the bus to the Games Village.

(pic) is expecting more athletes to join the 12 national athletes who have qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in July.
The growing optimism stems from 23 athletes under the Road To Tokyo (RTT) 2020 programme are now hunting for slots in the Games through various qualifying processes which are still going on until June. “As an example, in badminton, Lee Zii Jia has obtained his ticket (to Olympics) which I did not include in the list of 12 athletes as the qualifying process is still open.
