On February 19, 2019, thousands, including French President Emmanuel Macron and other politicians, gathered in Paris to protest the sharp rise of antisemitism in France. Among the crowds was a group of male and female Muslims who carried a banner reading "Musulmans Contre l'Antisémitisme" (Muslims Against Antisemitism), with a proper Arabic translation underneath. A group of retired generals has warned in an open letter that France is sliding toward a civil war due to the government’s failure to control mass migration and creeping Islamism in the country. The letter, which has broad public support, according to polls, also warns against cultural Marxism, runaway multiculturalism and the expansion of no-go zones in France.

The warning comes amid a wave of jihadist attacks — including the beheading of a schoolteacher — committed by young men, none of whom were previously known to French intelligence services. The letter also comes after widespread public indignation over a French justice system compromised by political correctness — as evidenced by the refusal to prosecute an African immigrant from Mali who, while shouting "Allahu Akbar" ("Allah is the Greatest"), killed an elderly Jewish woman by breaking into her home and pushing her off her balcony.
"Every Frenchman, whatever his belief or non-belief, should everywhere be at home in continental France [
l'Hexagone]; there cannot and must not exist any city or district where the laws of the Republic do not apply." — From an open letter signed by 20 retired generals, a hundred senior officers more than a thousand other members of the French military, April 21, 2021.

Irish Cabinet minister breaks glass ceiling by securing maternity leave

Ms McEntee said the progress was encouraging.
“It’s really important women see other women in roles and positions being able to take maternity leave, being able to return to their jobs and the positions they were working in before,” she said.
She described her own arrangement, which involved a considerable reshuffle of the Irish Cabinet, as “very much a sticking plaster … not a long-term measure”.
Ms McEntee will temporarily step aside as justice minister but remain in government as Cabinet minister without portfolio.
Heather Humphreys, the minister for social protection, rural and community development, will become justice minister.
Irish politicians rallied to offer their support to Ms McEntee, with Public Expenditure Minister Michael McGrath writing on Twitter: “Congratulations to @HMcEntee and Paul on their new arrival! I’m delighted Helen is able to take the time to be with her baby in the months ahead. Another glass ceiling smashed.”
