support israel and increase the flow of humanitarian aid to gaza. so us officials say, look, this is a long time coming and they need to see it all the way through so that they can get that help to allies. as the us tries to reaffirm its leadership on the world stage, read, write. priscilla, thanks so much to fred play can now in kyiv, what does this mean for you? crane in the coming weeks and perhaps months well, they think that they with this assistance from the united states, possibly are going to be able to hold up some of those russian advances that we've been seeing over the past couple of months. >> of course, we have seen certain things that the russians have been able to do because the ukrainians have been short on artillery ammunition, but also short on air defenses. sims as well. for instance, the russians now much more effective as using their own air force because they've managed to essentially turn a lot of the cold war bombs that they have into guided munitions. now, outfitting them with wings, able to drop those much further away from the frontline. so the ukrainians are saying they need air defense systems really badly. they need artillery ammo really badly as well. in fact, the

president of this country, volodymyr zelenskyy, but he came out not long ago today and said, he's obviously very grateful for this aid package that came out, but he also says, from the time that decisions are made to stuff hitting the battlefield, that a process needs to just be sped up a lot. now, here in kyiv today, i was actually able to speak with vladimir politico, who of course is the former world boxing champion, the brother of the mayor of key of and also still very much involved in the defense of this country. and here's what he said about why this aid package is so important. let's us now today as a great potential to change the frontline so we can in ukraine defend us better it sends also very important signal to put in russia that you're not going to win this war, this senseless war that has been started over 2.5 years ago, almost two years ago it sends a message of motivation for us, ukrainians that we are

on ukrainian cities and especially on ukrainian energy infrastructure over the past couple of weeks, really hurting the ukrainians. and one of the things president of this country said volodymyr zelenskyy is he said, look, in some cases, ukrainians were not able to fight off russian missiles because they simply did not have the interceptor missiles to do that because they haven't gotten any new ones from the united states. so in every respect, the ukrainians are saying all this needs to happen quickly. i was able today here in key of a to speak with volodymyr klitschko. of course, the former world heavyweight boxing champion, the brother of the mayor of key of n, someone who's actually very much involved in the defense of this country. here's what he had to say about why this aid package is so important. let's listen, it as equipment potential for change, the frontline. >> so we can then ukraine defend us better. it sends also very important signal to put in russia that you're not going to win this war, this senseless war that has been started over

know that this has gone through the house of representatives and there's really three key things that the ukrainian say they need immediately some of the things that priscilla was talking about is definitely palpable here on the ground in ukraine as well, then ukrainians are saying four now they're holding many of their defensive lines, even though the russian's have made some gains. however, there is a real threat that some of those lines could collapse if a lot of those, especially ammunition, doesn't come very quickly. so artillery ammunition, the ukrainians talking about, then also air defense missiles as well. very key, not just on the frontline, but also to some of the cities here in this countries that have been attacked by russian missiles and energy infrastructure as well. one of the other thing that the ukrainian president actually mentioned today, frederico, which i thought was also quite interesting was atacms longer range missiles at ukrainian say they also need to hit some of those rear areas is it the russians have, for instance, ammunition depots that the russians have. i was also today able to speak to vladimir klitschko is of course the former world heavyweight boxing champion, but also still very much involved in the

president volodymyr zelenskyy. again, he said it today he quickly is air defense missiles as well. of course we know that the russians have really escalated their attacks on the front lines using their air force, but then also missile and rocket attacks that ukrainian cities and ukrainian energy infrastructure and the ukrainians are saying they badly need to replenish the arsenal of air defense missiles and finally, one of the things that also volodymyr zelenskyy talked at length about today. it was those longer range atacms missiles that the ukrainian say they desperately lead. and of course, for instance, senator mark warner saying he hopes that they could be coming to ukraine fairly quickly as part of this packet. now, here in key of today, i was able to speak to vladimir klitschko, who is of course, is the former world heavyweight boxing champion, but also still very much involved in the defense of this country. here's what he said on why this aid is so important. let's listen in today as a great potential for change the frontline so we can then ukraine defend us better since

though you cannot have the ukrainians go on the offensive this year. they do not have the capacity to do so. so we're talking really about trying to stabilize the frontline, prevent further losses of ukrainian territory and maybe next year they can get into a position where they can try to take back some of the territory. >> you do believe that there is a scenario in which it's not just about defending, but going back on offense because they just try to counter offensive and it didn't work out very well. it didn't work out. i think they're going to try to go back and actually train the troops that the problem was that they didn't have sufficient training. they didn't have all the capabilities that they needed to go on the offensive. but the other thing that they're doing is these deep strike missions against the energy infrastructure in russia. we just had an incredibly powerful strike mission against the naval port in crimea, sevastopol, where they sank the only d deep submarine recovery vessel that the russians have in the black sea that will make the submarine operations in black sea incredibly risky for them. because if something happens, they'll not be able to do a rescue mission. >> and on that 0.1 of the biggest ticket items that ukrainians have been begging for for a very long time, or

potential to change the frontline so we can in ukraine defend us better it sends also very important signal to putin's russia that you're not going to win this war, this senseless war that has been started over 2.5 years ago, almost two years ago it said hence, the message of motivation for us ukrainians, that we are not alone it did send also for republicans and democrats in the, in this critical moments to stand together and make this decision together. >> to protect democracy in this world. >> now the russians, for their part, alex, are criticizing the united states, accusing the us of using ukrainians as what the russian say is cannon fodder that ukrainians, of course, take a very different view of that. they say for them right now this is absolutely key to their survival the leadership of this country has said in the past but this aid package
