SINGAPORE: In 2018, 19.1 million tourists came to Singapore and spent S$27.7 billion here.
The same year, Singaporeans went on 24.9 million international trips and spent S$34 billion overseas.

So, when COVID-19 kept overseas visitors out and trapped us all here, depriving us of our Japan sakura fixes, Zermatt ski trips, Chatuchak shopping binges and Maldives beach vibes, Singaporeans could have been counted on to prop up our tourism industry.

Singapore, April 11 (ANI): With vaccinations against the COVID-19 well underway around the world, many are hoping that leisure and regular business travel will soon resume.
According to government data compiled by the Our World in Data project at the University of Oxford, as of April 9, 6.2 per cent of Indians have received at least one vaccination shot whereas Singapore has vaccinated 19.3 per cent of its 5.8 million population with at least one dose of the vaccine as of April 6.
Singapore will have the capacity to vaccinate its entire population by the third quarter of this year but expect that the rollout will not be completed until the end of the year as some are still hesitant to take the vaccine.

SINGAPORE- An ice cream museum and another thrill ride in Clarke Quay are some of the new attractions Singaporeans can expect from this year, as Singapore seeks to enhance its attractiveness to prepare its hard-hit tourism sector for recovery.
Sentosa will also welcome its own attraction next year, the SkyHelix Sentosa, an open-air rotating gondola that will ascend 35m above ground and offer views of Singapore's southern coast.
There are also plans to have a new attraction at the vacant site between Somerset Skate Park and Killiney Road, as part of a plan to test-bed new concepts in Orchard Road.
