ISLAMABAD: Former chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lt-Gen (R) Syed Muhammad Amjad has said Pakistan made an agreement with a firm whose one of the representatives was facing punishment for doing fraud and cheating with public.
The retired general made these startling revelations in his statement recorded with the Broadsheet Inquiry Commission. Being the chairman NAB, General Amjad met Ronad Rudman, Jerry James and Dr Pepper as representatives of Trouvons, who convinced the NAB boss that they had the requisite capabilities and resources to recover Pakistan's looted money abroad.
In his statement, General (retd) Amjad said he was informed that a special vehicle company in the name of Broadsheet LLC (Isle of Man) ("Broadsheet") and International Asset Recovery Company Limited ("JAR") would be formed solely to deal with the asset recoveries for Pakistan.

Azmat Saeed commission report: Adam, Pirzada were on Broadsheet's payroll

ISLAMABAD: Farouk Adam Khan and Sharifuddin Pirzada were on the payroll of Broadsheet LLC (Isle of Man) when they were respectively the prosecutor general (PG) of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the ambassador-at-large during the tenure of Pervez Musharraf, the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) headed by retired Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed has noted in its report submitted to the federal government.
Both the gentlemen are no longer alive. The report said that according to the statement of Douglas Tisdale—a lawyer by profession and a witness for Broadsheet LLC (Isle of Man) before the arbitral tribunal— Sharifuddin Pirzada who at that point in time (1999-2000) was the ambassador at large and held various other offices and advised the Pakistan government and NAB, was also on the payroll of Broadsheet (Isle of Man) and International Asset Recovery LLC.

Broadsheet traced no assets, failed: Amjad

LONDON: The Broadsheet LLC did absolutely nothing to bring back the looted assets to Pakistan, lied and exaggerated.
Former NAB Prosecutor General Farouk Adam Khan’s son secretly worked for a Broadsheet partner and the Broadsheet agreement was signed without approval from the relevant ministers.
Broadsheet used the info provided by NAB to make claims on the “targets” without any results, said NAB’s former chairman General (retd) Syed Amjad, who signed the contract with the Broadsheet LLC on behalf of the State of Pakistan/NAB.
This correspondent has seen hundreds of pages of correspondence between NAB and Trouvons (which later turned into Broadsheet LLC, Isle of Man), court documents and General Amjad’s testimony before Sir Anthony Evans, the arbitration judge at the London High Court, who found that the Pakistan government criminally conspired to defraud Broadsheet LLC through contractual violations.

Tariq Fawad Malik: the founder of messy Broadsheet deal

Tariq Fawad Malik. File photo
LONDON: The state of Pakistan is assessing the mega loss of reputation and $65 million in litigation to the Broadsheet LLC that was formed with just £200 but one person who laid the foundation of this mess is Tariq Fawad Malik, a Lahore textile trader, who was able to convince General (retired) Amjad, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman in 2000, that he could help Pakistan bring back the “looted wealth” from overseas.
It was a flashy marketing brochure making wild claims about assets recovery that Mr Tariq Fawad Malik, a former Air Force (PAF) Pilot Officer dismissed from the service over fraud offences, showed to General Amjad, arranged a scripted visit to Colorado to win him over his trust and the rest is history.
