The problem at Lake Oroville started last tuesday when a massive hole opened up here in the main spillway. Lets check out video of the hole from last week. It may be hard to tell here. But its 30 feet deep. 200 feet wide. That hole prompted water managers to stop using the main spillway. That meant water in the lake. Swollen from all this winters storms. Started coming over the emergency spillway. The emergency spillway. Built in 1968. Is just dirt and rocks. And yesterday water was coming over the top. And carving small craters in the land below. Which is not paved like the main spillway. The concern is that the dirt and rock at the top of the emergency spillway might collapse. And that would be catasprophic. A 30 foot wall of water would come charging down the hill. Like a tsunami ....

Grant tonight fema actually approved two of governor browns requests for federal aid. One was aunrelateda to oroville. It was to help communities hurt by januarys destructive storms. But another was to help with the crisis at lake oroville. As crews work feverishly to shore up that emergency spillway. All day. Helicopter s. Working in tandem. Carrying bags of rocks and sand. To fill holes in the lakes emergency spillway. And that work appears to be going well, because the biggest news this afternoon came when the sheriff lifted a mandatory Evacuation Order for those 190thousand People Living downstream of lake oroville. After a Family Member from San Francisco called police in sacramento for a welfare check. Unfortunately that gut feeling that something was wrong, proved right. At least one person was taken into custody from this building behind me. Pkgall day long, investigators have been combing the scene inside this Sacramento South land park home. Sot neighbors are completely shocked that a quadruple homicide happened on this normally quiet block. Police say the 4 victims included a woman, 2 children, and a relative. Neighbors didnt hear any fighting, gunshots, or suspicious behavior overnight. But they woke up to a crime scene and Numerous Police officers on their street.
