Netflix, US media service and streaming giant, has enlisted Ikorodu Bois, Nigerian comedy group, for its campaign to mark this year’s edition of the Oscars billed for April 25.

The streaming giant broke the news in a statement to TheCable Lifestyle on Friday.
According to the statement, the campaign is aimed at celebrating the significance of fans to the success of the movie landscape.
“On Hollywood’s biggest weekend, Netflix is celebrating fans for the important role they play — For watching, loving, discussing, and even recreating our movies. For inspiring Netflix, its filmmakers and talent every day to make more. And for reminding us that at our core, we’re all fans, too,” it read.

Ikorodu Bois, a group of brothers and a cousin from Lagos, Nigeria, are getting the spotlight in the Netflix Oscar weekend brand campaign. The campaign, which celebrates fans of movies, showcases the ingenuity of the group that gained popularity from their remakes of favourite trailers of Hollywood movies.
Netflix’s VP of Brand, Eric Pallotta, called their style charming and inimitable in a blog post. He wrote that the group employs “a mix of ingenious DIY and child-like whimsy to recreate mega-budget films on a shoestring”.
The streamer first noticed the young filmmakers when they reenacted the trailer of the Netflix film Extraction last June. Impressed by their creativity, Netflix sent them a package of professional filmmaking gear last August.

Teen comedy star Emmanuella Samuel has won the Nickelodeon Kid Choice Awards 2021 in the ‘Favorite African Social Media Star’ category.
Emanuella, who won by public voting, was nominated alongside Nigerian comedy group Ikorodu Bois, South African Magician Wian Van Den Berg, Ugandan Youth Dance Group Ghetto Kids, Kenyan social media sensation Elsa Majimbo, and South African media personality Bonang Matheba.
Taking to social media, the 10-year-old comedy star could not hide her excitement as she expressed gratitude to her fans, who have been supportive throughout her comedy journey. Emmanuella's lost to Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo in 2018 when she was first nominated.

Nigeria’s comedy star, Emanuella Samuel, known as Emanuella has won the Nickelodeon Kid Choice Awards 2021 in the ‘Favorite African Social Media Star’ category.
Emanuella emerged winner in the “Favourite African Social Media Star” category at Nickelodeons Kids Choice Awards by public voting.
She was nominated alongside Nigerian comedy group, Ikorodu Bois, South African Magician, Wian Van Den Berg; Ugandan Youth Dance Group, Ghetto Kids, Kenyan social media sensation, Elsa Majimbo, and South African media personality, Bonang Matheba.
She showed her appreciation to her fans in a post on Instagram, she wrote:

Popular YouTube comedy star, Emanuella Samuel, has won Nickelodeon’s Kid Choice Awards 2021 in the ‘Favorite African Social Media Star’ category.
Emanuella won the voting-based award but was in good company with fellow nominees in the same category being, Ikorodu Bois, Magician Wian Van Den Berg from South Africa, Uganda’s Ghetto Kids, Kenya’s social media sensation Elsa Majimbo, and South Africa’s Bonang Matheba.
Emanuella was first nominated for the Kids Choice Awards in 2018 alongside Davido but they lost to Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo.
The Ikorodu Bois received tons of praise for their creativity of using everyday stuff to craftily make their videos and were invited to the world premiere of Netflix action flick ‘Extraction 2′ after they remade the first trailer.
