Countries need to cooperate and help each other minimise the damage caused by COVID-19, India's envoy here has said, as he thanked the Singapore government, people and corporate sector for their help to India in terms of medical supplies and financial donations to fight the devastating second wave of the pandemic.
Highlighting Singapore's status as a vital trade and logistics hub, Indian High Commissioner P Kumaran on Thursday said that they have thus been able to mop up supplies of various essential items such as cryogenic oxygen tanks, oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators and BiPAP machines and ventilators.

Singapore summoned the Indian High Commissioner P Kumaran today and conveyed strong objection to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's comments that a variant of Covid-19 found in Singapore was particularly harmful for children, and could cause a third wave of infections in India.
Following Singapore Foreign Ministry's reaction, regretting the "unfounded assertions" by Kejriwal, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar snubbed Kejriwal and said the Delhi Chief Minister does not speak for India.

NEW DELHI: Singapore on Wednesday appreciated the Indian government's "crystal clear clarification" on Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's remarks on a new Covid-19 variant and said it reserved the right to invoke the provision of domestic law to check misinformation on some of the comments made by him.
Singapore High Commissioner to India Simon Wong said his country now wants to put the "unfortunate chapter" behind and focus on collectively dealing with the pandemic.
Kejriwal's claim on Tuesday about a new Covid-19 strain detected in Singapore sparked off a diplomatic row, with the Southeast Asian country on Wednesday calling in the Indian envoy and conveying to him its strong objections to the "unfounded assertions".
