Suit alleges developers' lack of proper drainage caused homes to flood

HOUSTON — Developers of a residential community in Kingwood are facing a suit alleging they failed to ensure proper drainage of their development which led to nearby homes flooding.
Juan Perz, Jessica Escobar, Shelley Hales and Lyndell Wynne filed a complaint May 6 in Harris County District Court against Perry Homes LLC, Figure Four Partners LTD., PSWA Inc., LJA Engineering Inc., Rebel Contractors Inc., Double Oak Construction Inc., Texasite LLC and Concourse Development LLC alleging violation of the Texas Water Code and negligence.
According to their complaint, the plaintiffs are residents of the Elm Grove neighborhood in Kingwood. They allege that in 2018, the defendants, who are developers, purchased and began developing a plot of land near their neighborhood for a future residential community called Woodbridge Village. The plaintiffs claim that in May of 2019, the defendants began removing trees, vegetation and debris from the area and "trenched out" areas to create drainage for the new development.
