Bears rebuffed in 'very aggressive pursuit of Russell Wilson, turn to Andy Dalton: report

Russell Wilson is not going anywhere – at least right now.
Wilson, who has expressed his frustration with the Seattle Seahawks and is interested in having a voice in personnel decisions, is not being moved "at this time," ESPN reported amid a flurry of free agency wheeling and dealing during the league’s legal tampering period.
The Chicago Bears made a "very aggressive pursuit" of Wilson, sources told the outlet, but were rebuffed. In turn, the Bears reportedly agreed to a deal with free-agent Andy Dalton who may be a part of the team’s quarterback competition after starting several games for the Dallas Cowboys last season.

Day two of the legal tampering period came and went, and the Jets didn’t do much other than sign a special teams ace in Justin Hardee. Hardee was one of the top return defenders in the league this past season, and is a good culture signing. The Jets are shaping up to be a team that is targeting guys who like to grind with amazing work ethics. This is a good building block to set up the team for future success, but that hinges on Joe Douglas and company finding and maintaining star players as well. Good morning, GGN! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. Joe Douglas will personally be attending NDSU’s Pro Day today, and one big name is on that list. That is Trey Lance, the star quarterback. Lance is admittedly more of a ‘raw’ prospect, but he could have the most potential out of any quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft. While I personally don’t expect the Jets to go after Lance, Joe Douglas is doing what he does best - due diligence. It’s a common theme under the regime of Joe Douglas, as he doesn’t seem to leave any stone unturned. It’s shown to disgruntle some players, but as a General Manager it’s what you want out of the position. Closed mindedness is a huge downfall when in that position, as it limits the ability to get things down in the present, or even down the road. CLEVELAND, Ohio — When the Browns pick up the fifth-year options for Baker Mayfield and Denzel Ward by the May 3rd deadline — and they will — Mayfield’s tender for 2022 will be $18.858 million, and Ward’s will be $13.294 million.

Good morning, GGN! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. Per NBC’s Peter King, there’s a strong chance that the 17-game schedule starts with this upcoming year. Adding an extra game to the schedule brings some interesting questions for the season. Will the league incorporate more holiday and Saturday games? Will teams who made the playoffs comfortably start resting players for multiple weeks? Will the IR be updated and will the pre-season be changed? There’s quite a few things an extra game to the regular season could mean going forward. It’s definitely interesting to see the final details regarding the scheduling for the entirety of the season after incorporating this extra game. To me I don’t believe players should go through another game - and think this really only has to do with money. But with that being said, I can’t complain about getting another week of NFL football. Bettors have started placing their bids on who they think will be taken by the Jets with the second overall pick in the NFL Draft. Per Oddschecker (with their spokesman and our very own Kyle Newman), that player continues to be BYU quarterback Zach Wilson. However, in the past couple of days a majority of bettors (57% of bets) have placed their bid on Ohio State QB Justin Fields; who has sat as the second choice among all choices. This isn’t exactly new from a news standpoint, but it’s pretty interesting to see where people are placing their money on the future of the team.
