She was born three miles east of here in the town of madison and she spent time in this area as well as in bucktown a few miles west of here. It was in this area of Dorchester County she learned the skills that were vital to make her a successful conductor of the underground railroad such as reading the landscape, reading the stars, foraging for food, walking outdoors and being comfortable by herself. This building is lined in cedar which is a reference to her time in the timber fields with her father. The last three buildings are lined in zinc and the idea is that over time it will patina and weather like copper and it will begi ....
