British Ambassador to Ankara Dominick Chilcott said that Turkey has two important advantages; a young population and a state-of-the-art health system, in the face of the pandemic.
Turkey’s Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun on Thursday shared interviews made on Turkey’s combat with the coronavirus outbreak with the ambassadors of the UK, Italy, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Australia in Ankara.
All interviews can be reached on the directorate’s YouTube channel.
Chilcott noted that there are well-equipped hospitals in major cities of Turkey and the true value of such investment in the health system was understood during the pandemic.

Asya Cevahir: Trans teen blinded in acid attack by ex-boyfriend

A man who is accused of throwing acid on a trans woman’s face, blinding her, has been charged for “intentional injury”, which carries a sentence of one to three years, prompting outrage among the victim’s loved ones.
Asya Cevahir had celebrated her 18th birthday just moments before her ex-boyfriend Emre Boztürk reportedly splashed hydrochloric acid over her in İstanbul, Turkey, on 9 March.
The Syrian refugee now lies in a hospital bed in Kocaeli, her body covered in third-degree burns, scars and full-body bandages and her face disfigured. She has lost vision in one eye and has only 15 per cent vision in the other, according to Turkish news outlet

Turkey and Kazakhstan aim to achieve a $10 billion trade volume in the long run, according to the Kazakh ambassador in Ankara.
During a visit to Karabuk in Turkey’s Black Sea region, Abzal Saparbekuly pointed out that an 8% drop in trade volume between the two countries is expected due to the coronavirus outbreak.
"However, Turkey's share in Kazakhstan's foreign trade increased by a grade moving up to the sixth place. This is important in terms of our trade relations with Turkey," the ambassador told Anadolu Agency.

Teenager drowns whilst fishing in Faralya
Kyrgyzstan teenager Nurzighigit Zhenishbekov (18), who was fishing with his stepfather in the Faralya area, drowned yesterday when he was swept into the sea by waves crashing on the rocks from where he was fishing.
Health, gendarmerie and coast guard teams were dispatched to the scene and the body was retrieved by the coast guard.
Zhenishbekov was pronounced dead at the scene by medical teams and his body was sent to the MuÄla Forensic Medicine Institute to determine the exact cause of death.
Fethiye Municipality teams were out and about during the week dealing with the aftermath of storms.

One of the most striking features of Turkey's Karabuk province is a library that looks like a row of gigantic books lined up on a shelf.
Turkish philanthropist Kamil Gulec supported a project that paved the way for a huge book-shaped library in Turkey’s Karabuk province.
Inspired by the Kansas City Public Library in the US, the building has changed the landscape of the neighbourhood and has become one of its main tourist attractions. It also provides access to at least 190 university libraries in the country.

Here’s something wonderful: Karabuk University’s library, in Karabuk, Turkey, is designed to look like a row of large books on a shelf. It’s so cheerful—and there is a pleasure and clarity in something stating what it is.
Others have noticed the joy of buildings like this: architects Robert Venturi, Denise Scott Brown, and Steven Izenour coined the term “duck architecture” in their 1972 book
Venturi, Brown and Izenour personally liked decorated sheds more than ducks, though they declared both valid—but I’m ducks all the way. Let’s mainstream duck architecture—imagine how more joyful our lives would be! I want coffee shops to be shaped like cups with saucers. I want a movie theater that’s shaped like Godzilla. Shape pigpens like pigs. I want my apartment building to be shaped like a person typing on their computer, or a person eating noodles out of a bowl, or a person lying on the ground, or a stack of dollars. I want a hat store that looks like a gorgeous pink hat. I want a hat that looks like a brain. I want a brain that’s shaped like its thoughts, so right now it would be shaped like a library, shaped like books, on a huge shelf. Happy Friday.
