Melanie Bedard couldn't sleep.
It was 4 a.m. and her two kids — Connor and Madisen, aged 15 and 17 — were flying to Sweden in two days.
In the middle of a pandemic.
"I sat up and thought, 'I don't think I can do this,'" she recalled. "You think about if something happens and you're so far away."

The experience of the Winnipeg Ice was too much for the young Regina Pats at the Brandt Centre on Saturday afternoon.
The Pats lost 5-2 to the Ice, dropping their second in a row and bringing their record down to 4-6-2.
Head Coach Dave Struch says the Pats’ youth got exposed against a veteran Winnipeg team.
“We couldn’t handle their 12 high-end forwards , and that’s in a nut shell really,” Struch said. “We know that we want to get the puck in deep against these guys, take advantage of their young defencemen, and (Saturday) there was not enough of that from our young guys.”

Under public health orders, private indoor gatherings are limited to a maximum of 10 people and those people should be from no more than two additional households. Just because getting 10 people together is allowed doesn’t mean you should — the Saskatchewan government is imploring people to limit interactions by hosting virtual gatherings using platforms like Zoom or Facetime and to only have in-person gatherings with people from the same household.

Crazy train goes off the tracks in Regina as Raiders double up Pats

After being one of the few hockey players in the world to have played meaningful hockey in the past year, Ozzy Wiesblatt stole the show for the Prince Albert Raiders.
Wiesblatt scored the Raiders’ first goal of their unprecedented hub centre season in Regina, and added two assists to lead the Raiders to a 6-3 victory over the hosting Regina Pats. He even got into a fight in the third period with Pats defender Kyle Walker.
Wiesblatt credited his big night to his hustling linemates Evan Herman and Reece Vitelli. On Wiesblatt’s first goal just 3:53 into the first period, Herman won the puck on the wall, slid it over to Vitelli who then found Wiesblatt in front.
