Quick, imagine a string quartet concert in a private home. Marble floors, vaulted ceilings, and uniformed servers with hors d’oeuvres platters probably come to mind. But this was rarely or never the case with the private concerts organized through the buzzy classical music startup Groupmuse, which matched musicians with music lovers — often younger than those in the typical Symphony Hall audience — who hosted casual, intimate concerts in backyards and living rooms.

Middlesex Community College will continue its online spring concert series “A World of Music” with a performance by the Rasa Strings Quartet, which was recorded at MCC’s Concert Hall in Bedford and will air at 7:30 p.m. March 19.
Since winning first prize in the Chamber Music Yellow Springs 35th annual competition, Rasa Strings Quartet emerged as one of New England’s finest young ensembles. The quartet consists of violinists Kiyoshi Hayashi and Maura Shawn Scanlin, violist Claudia Do Minh Ramos and cellist — and MCC faculty member — Eunghee Cho. 
According to Cho, creating and performing art is the closest way to experience passion, beauty and miracle — something that has been missing throughout the pandemic.

The Rasa String Quartet will play a specially commissioned piece at "A St. Patrick's Day Celtic Sojourn"
Fresh from the success of the virtual “A Christmas Celtic Sojourn” in December, WGBH broadcaster Brian O’Donovan and his dedicated production team, plus a cohort of accomplished music and dance performers – including some from Greater Boston – will present an online version of the annual “St. Patrick’s Day Celtic Sojourn,” from March 11 to March 14, and on March 17.
Joining O’Donovan, the show’s creator and host, will be Newfoundland singer Matthew Byrne; Boston-based Irish fiddlers Nathan Gourley and Laura Feddersen; Scottish/Cape Breton-style fiddler Hanneke Cassel and Québécois guitarist Yann Falquet; local uilleann piper Joey Abarta; highly touted traditional Irish duo Caitlín Nic Gabhann and Ciarán Ó Maonaigh; and sean-nos, or “old-style” Irish dancer Emma O’Sullivan.
