Exactly, rosemary, this is a continuation of the bitter cold we dealt with yesterday. Hopefully you stayed indoors all day long yesterday, thats what i did, because it was just cold the entire day. In fact, throughout friday the temperatures actually fell instead of picked up like they typically would. And theyve been continuing to fall throughout the night. So take a look at what temperatures feel like now. This is factoring in the winds as well as that arctic blast thats hit over us. 10 right now in pottstown and 14 degrees in philadelphia. 12 the current feels like in wilmington. And 14 degrees in trenton. Look at mt. Pocono, feeling like only 5 degrees outside. This is a multiple layer, big coat, boots on kind of morning if you have to get out the door. It continues this morning. What does a first alert mean . It means we want to make sure youre prepared, little shock to the system because we had temperatures that were so warm over the past week. Some neighborhoods this morning have already set record cold temperatures and others may continue to fall. First alert meteorologist krystal klei is keeping us up to speed with all the details. Take steps to protect the homeless. Philadelphia and other parts of our area have a code blue in effect today. In philly the Homeless Outreach overnight has brought at least 50 people to warm indoor places. All seemingly back to normal after weather caused some traffic problems. Skyforce 10 was overhead following black ice issue last night. We normally dont see salt trucks until december or january. It was closed for a time but back open this morning. With the burst of bitter air cranked up, folks are adding on the layers for events this weekend. One of those events the annual rocky run. Started laying salt on the road. This is on roosevelt, police blocked the road while work took place and then reopened it. The stabbing hammed just before 2 00 when dozens of students were inside the dining hall economy common air. Students and faculty got the Emergency Alert to shelter in place. We look over and hes sitting at a chair and they have all these like napkins taped to him trying to stop bleeding and theres cop cars everywhere. Reporter 45 minutes later the shelter in place was lifted. But not before students left campus shaken. I was kind of a little scared at first because you hear it happening at other campuses you dont think its going happen at yours.
