This morning folks from the gulf coast to new england are being hit with a nasty wintry mix of snow, ice, and some very cold temperatures. There are freeze warnings posted from texas to alabama and Winter Weather advisories and warnings from georgia to maine. Snow fell through the day in louisiana. Its part of a system thats moving into georgia this morning. Schools are closed in atlanta where its expected to feel like minus 2 today, and up to an inch and a half of snow is expected. Roads are dangerous in houston. The city was caked in ice following yesterdays severe weather. Schools there are closed for a second day in a row. Bit of dryout. The sunny skies are what well continue to see. Thats the good news through the rest of the week. We do want to start off with the Flood Warnings that are still in effect through later today, possibly through later this week. Right now the flooded roads and rivers continue full creeks and streams. Were also looking at storm drains clogged at this point in time. Some roads closed as well. You can see that Flood Warnings continues for north hampton, halifax counties through sandhills through Harnett Cumberland and hoke counties this morning. Well have an update on the rivers and when theyre expected to crest this morning. Clear skies, no rain, no clouds, and that is why we are cool as we start off our wednesday morning. 48 degrees right now. 65 at lunchtime climbing to 72 this afternoon. Yes, we hit the 70s ....

Because of all of those flooded roads and because some rivers are still rising today, were still looking at Flood Warnings up and down 95 along the sandhills as well. We are talking about wayne county in particular right around the goldsboro area. The neuse river is expected to crest today. Its happening pretty much as we speak, and then well be falling, but kinston river, the neuse river is not expected to crest unt feet. Near the Cape Fear River in fayetteville falling below flood stage by tomorrow morning. So certainly a light at the end of the tunnel for some of you, water though still rising along the tar river as well. Well get to the latest on that in a moment.
