Two South Korean actresses, including Oscar-winning Youn Yuh-jung, have been invited to the membership of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) that organizes the prestigious Academy Awards.
In the 2021 list of new members in the filmmaking industry released Thursday (U.S. time), AMPAS unveiled the names of 395 artists and experts in the filmmaking industry from 50 countries.

Walls are usually meant to distance people. However, a novel seesaw installation at the US-Mexico border wall brought people on both sides of the border closer together.
The creation — a set of bright pink seesaws — that bridged the gap created by divisive forces, is a lesson in innovation and unity that caught the attention of London's Design Museum, which has given it the 2020 Beazley Design of the Year award.
The Teeter Totter Wall, which was installed across the border between El Paso in Texas and Ciudad Juárez in Mexico for 40 minutes in July 2019, allowed American and Mexican children to play together.

A collection of bright pink seesaws that allowed people to interact over the US-Mexico border has won the prestigious Design of the Year award, with its creators saying they hoped the work encourages people to build bridges between communities.
The Teeter Totter Wall, which bridged across El Paso in Texas and Ciudad Juárez in Mexico during a 40-minute session, was described as not only feeling “symbolically important” but also highlighting “the possibility of things” by the judging panel.

Other nominees included a 3D rendering of the virus causing COVID-19, Lee Ha Jun’s set design from "Parasite" and the union flag stab-proof vest worn by Stormzy at Glastonbury 2019. The Impossible Burger 2.0 and a gender neutral Telfar bag were two of the category winners, along with the Chilean feminist group Colectivo LASTESIS and the brick arches made by protesters in Hong Kong to slow down police vehicles.
“If you believe in this relationship between design and activism and you want to make change, then you take that step to make a statement about the state of affairs," said Rael in a video. "That was part of it and it was scary, but it was important."
