Senate Democrats Fail to Garner Enough Votes to Pass Jan. 6 Commission Bill

(CNS News) The Senate failed on Friday to pass legislation to create an independent commission to investigate the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol.  Senators voted 54-35, falling short of the 60 votes needed to pass the bill.
Conservative Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) voted against the bill, saying in a statement,  “With multiple investigations already underway, I do not support the politically motivated January 6 Commission led by Sen. Schumer and Speaker Pelosi.”
Liberal Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) said he was “disgusted” about the vote, claiming, “Republicans just filibustered it for purely political purposes.”  ....
