We are standing in the timeline gallery main courtroom of the Lynchburg Museum and our exhibit inexhibits start in 1607, honor of the 400th anniversary of the founding of virginia. At that time, lynchburg was not a town yet. The monaghan indians were here. Lynchburg was not started until the 1750s by john lynch. That is who lynchburg was named after. The whole reason the town is here is because of the james river.
