“Shadows,” “Winnipeg,” and “Sheba” feature among 10 nominated in the running for a Eurimages Award at this year’s Cartoon Movie, one of Europe’s principal animated movies forums.
The Eurimages Co-production Development Award will be the only prize granted at 2021’s Cartoon Movie online edition, which will not feature traditional tributes nor a territory spotlight.

Animation Professionals Can Now Stream The Annecy-Winning 'Calamity' On The Animation Showcase

Calamity, a Childhood of Martha Jane Cannary,the sole French contestant for this year’s animated feature Oscar, can now be streamed by animation professionals around the world — for free. The film has been added to the Animation Showcase streaming platform, which makes award contenders and other content available to those in the industry.
Rémi Chayé’s film, an origin story of sorts for the frontierswoman Calamity Jane, has yet to pick up U.S. distribution, despite winning the top feature prize at last year’s Annecy Festival. The director’s previous film
Long Way North (2015) was released in the U.S. by Shout! Factory and nominated for an Annie in the independent animated feature category.

“Calamity Jane,” Rémi Chayé’s critically acclaimed animated feature vying for an Oscar nomination, is set to roll out on The Animation Showcase, a streaming service dedicated to the industry.
The hand-drawn “Calamity Jane,” which marks Chayé’s follow up to “Long Way North,” will be the first animated feature film to be available worldwide on the service. Although it won the Cristal Award at the Annecy 2020 Online animation festival, the movie has yet to secure a U.S. distribution deal.
