JERUSALEM, May 27 (Xinhua) The latest round of fighting between Hamas and Israel that was concluded with a cease-fire mirrored the geopolitical shifts that have occurred in the Middle East in recent years.
It was the first serious escalation between Hamas and Israel since the new U.S. administration was sworn in. It was also the first test for the new peace accords between Israel and a number of Gulf states.
Some experts say Iran, Israel s arch enemy, helps Hamas not only by funding, but also with supplying weapons and technologies, considering that Hamas has launched a massive bombardment of over 4,000 rockets into Israel in 11 days. ....
