Indonesian Military: Sunken Submarine Found Broken in Pieces, All 53 Crew Dead

A sunken Indonesian submarine was found broken into pieces on the seabed, senior military officials announced Sunday, as they declared all 53 crew members dead in waters off Bali more than a half-mile deep.
An unmanned Singaporean submersible vehicle captured images of the wreckage of the KRI Nanggala-402 at a depth of 838 meters (2,750 feet), said Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Indonesia’s military chief, as he confirmed that the submarine had disintegrated under enormous pressure at depths far below those it could safely dive to.
“We have received images that have been confirmed to be parts of the submarine including the rear vertical rudder, the anchor, the outer pressure body and other parts of the ship including safety suits,” Hadi told a press conference at an air force base in Bali.

KUCHING, April 18 — Children who are born to parents of mixed marriages between a non-native person and a native of Sarawak should be recognised as natives, said Selangau MP Baru Bian.
In supporting the recent calls made by Rurum Kelabit Association president Datuk Dr Philip Raja and Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) secretary-general Libat Langub on the issue, Baru said he had discussed the matter with his fellow leaders in Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and it was agreed that the party would give priority to his matter.

PETALING JAYA, Apr 3 — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan is still open to joining Muafakat Nasional (MN) — a pact forged between PAS and Umno in 2019.
He reminded that Bersatu has previously made public their readiness to join MN and is only waiting for the nod from MN over the matter.

Malaysiakini has raised more than RM700k for its media defence fund, days after it was fined RM500,000 for contempt of court last Friday. According to a banner on the website, Malaysiakini said the donation campaign has been suspended since it has achieved the required target.
The news platform was founded to be in contempt of court due to readers' comments perceived as offensive to the judiciary. The country's attorney-general filed an application to cite the news platform and its editor-in-chief Steven Gan for contempt of court over five comments from readers on Malaysiakini. According to Channel NewsAsia, the application said the comments "undermined public confidence in the judiciary".
