A Florida woman whose story Ron DeSantis used to explain his pro-life position has said she did not watch the debate where she was referenced, but was 'excited' by the new fame.

The story is not an indictment of legal abortion but rather a cautionary tale about the lengths people will go in order to end a pregnancy in the face of bans.

Ron DeSantis on Wednesday night told the story of 'Penny', whose parents tried to abort her. The woman has been revealed as Miriam 'Penny' Hopper, born in central Florida in 1955.
