University will redevelop property near historic Sony Building on 18th Avenue South Vanderbilt University officials are eyeing an overhaul of their property on the east side of 18th Avenue South near the Peabody campus — with the eventually updated site to accommodate a chancellor's residence and events space. A document submitted to the Metro Planning Department notes the university seeks to demolish various buildings on the site, which is anchored by the historic Sony Building.
