Thomas Tuchel says he can always rely on "unique" Chelsea player

Thomas Tuchel says he can always rely on “unique” Chelsea player
May 12, 2021
Kovacic, who cost the Blues £40million (BBC), has been sidelined lately through injury.
However, the 27-year-old central midfielder has been really impressive yet again this campaign, especially since Tuchel’s mid-season appointment as manager at Stamford Bridge.
The Croatia international is a massive fan favourite with Chelsea supporters, as he’s a really eye-catching player that adds some extra guile on the pitch with his dribbling and movement.
Tuchel has highlighted the aggressive side of his game too, and always feels he’s such a reliable performer.
“Kova is a big, big loss with his ability to drive with the ball, his speed on and off the ball. He is such a positive character, a unique player and a genuine fighter. You can always rely on him in training and in the games. He has a big experience despite being still young,” Tuchel said, as quoted by Football London.

'Here for the long run': 25-year-old with one year left on contract wants to remain at Chelsea

'Here for the long run': 25-year-old with one year left on contract wants to remain at Chelsea
April 29, 2021
Christensen’s contract runs out next June and there is no indication yet of an extension offer.
A report from the Telegraph last month did suggest the 25-year-old was to be presented with a new agreement, but nothing has yet come to pass.

Based on his performances in the second half of this season, very few would deserve a reward more.
Following Thomas Tuchel’s arrival in late January, the central defender has been one of Chelsea’s standout players and arguably their most improved.

Overview
Chelsea gritted out a hard-fought 2-0 win to firmly plant one foot in the semi-finals of the Champions League. The game was not pretty and Porto were arguably the better team for large stretches of the game but two moments of magic, from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell sealed the deal for Tuchel’s men.
Chelsea started the game slowly and allowed Porto to gain a foothold before Mount produced an exceptional turn and finish to snatch the lead. Porto continued to create threatening chances and called Mendy and the defence into action multiple times.

Mount happy to see hard work repaid as Tuchel lavishes praise on Chelsea star

Photo by Chelsea Football Club/Getty Images
If the best thing to have happened to Mason Mount’s career (outside of his own control) was the appointment of Frank Lampard as Chelsea head coach, as the narrative goes, then surely the second best thing to have happened to Mason Mount’s career (outside of his own control) was the sacking of Frank Lampard as Chelsea head coach. Not because of any tactical or player development issues, but purely so that Mount could quickly remove himself from said narrative and prove his qualities without the constant (obviously misplaced) suggestions of some sort of pseudo-nepotism on Lampard’s part.

TV tonight: Grey's Anatomy continues into its 17th series

Grey’s Anatomy
9pm, Sky Witness
Shonda Rhimes’ hospital drama persists, with its 17th season now making it one of the longest-running medical dramas in US television history. The new episodes bring the show bang up to date with the staff at Grey Sloan Memorial hospital facing the beginnings of the coronavirus pandemic in tonight’s opening double bill. While the doctors are rushing to care for Covid patients, a fire at Station 19 means Bailey (Chandra Wilson) has to have some difficult discussions with the parents of the affected children.

One of telly’s loveliest programmes returns, eager to please. Many of the dogs O’Grady meets are in a happier place now after a difficult upbringing on puppy farms: two maltese terriers who have possibly come from Romania, and a three-month-old spaniel-cross who is riddled with mites.
