Prince Philip would not necessarily have personally used all his presents.
This might well have been the case with a Japanese folding fan painted with cherry blossom (pictured below).
This was presented by the Tokyo Minister for Education during the Duke’s visit to Japan on behalf of the WWF in 1984.

Queen Elizabeth: Informality 'had limits' on royal tours as Prince Philip 'thrown' in sea | Travel News | Travel

This was often the case during time spent on the Royal Yacht Britannia.
The Queen had use of the yacht from 1954 until it was decommissioned in 1997 due to the expense of running and maintaining it.
She very much loved the ship and once described it as the “one place where I can truly relax”.
Author Robert Hardman explained in his book Queen of the World that there an easy-going mood on the ship, however, one could never take it too far.

Prince Philip travel: Duke called 'beautiful' by 'wolf-whistling' teens on Australia tour | Travel News | Travel

In fact, Philip was treated like a Hollywood movie star, with his handsome looks praised.
Bradford wrote: “Later even Prince Philip was flustered by a crowd of teenagers wolf-whistling and screaming: ‘Isn’t he nice?… He’s beautiful.’”
Both the Queen and her husband “had become worldwide celebrities” since the coronation, explained Bradford.

The event had subtly altered the public’s view of the monarch. “Millions had seen the Coronation on film,” the author wrote.
“[It was] a magical, mysterious and glittering ceremony which had elevated the central figure to the level of myth."

Prince Philp also served to help Elizabeth up when they travelled together.
In 1953, after the Queen's coronation, the couple spent six months travelling forty thousand miles around the world to visit twelve countries in 1953.
Still early on in her reign, Elizabeth still hadn't mastered the art of small talk - but it was quite the opposite for Philip.
