5 things to do this week: 'The Mineola Twins,' Jenny Conlee, and 'Protocol'

5 things to do this week: ‘The Mineola Twins,’ Jenny Conlee, and ‘Protocol’
Updated Mar 03, 2021;
Profile Theatre presents Miriam Schwartz, Jennifer Lanier and Blake Stone in "The Mineola Twins"
Paula Vogel’s “
The Mineola Twins”
Profile Theatre will present the first in a series of five planned livestream performances for 2021. This production was written by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Paula Vogel and directed by Josh Hecht. The comedic play centers on a pair of twins who use mistaken identity to explore culture wars from the 1950s to the 1990s. Themes include women’s sexual freedom, and the fight for reproductive rights. One twin is “good” the other “evil.” One actor plays both parts and sometimes switches between them in the same scene. This is Profile Theatre’s first stab at producing a play featuring real-time performances during the pandemic.

Trump Admin Lies About Vaccine Stockpile, Endangering Oregon's Vax Plan

Dentist Ryan Thrower vaccinates Ansu Drammeh against COVID-19 last month at OHSU.
Earlier this week, Oregonians got some rare positive news about the COVID-19 pandemic: Due to a change in the federal government's vaccine rollout strategy, the number of people in the state eligible to get vaccinated was increasing substantially. Specifically, K-12 teachers and all Oregonians 65 and older could sign up to get their first vaccine dose this month.
Now, thanks to a massive fuckup from the Trump administration's Operation Warp Speed program, those optimistic plans are in danger.
Friday morning, Gov. Kate Brown announced that officials from the federal vaccine rollout effort had deceived her, by stating that they were releasing all the vaccine doses in the federal stockpile—enough to vaccinate all those teachers and elderly Oregonians. In fact, Brown said in a statement, "states will not be receiving increased shipments of vaccines from the national stockpile next week,

Good Afternoon, News: Nancy Protects Nuclear Codes, Extremists Plan Inauguration Visit, and Trump Banned from Twitter OMIGOD FINALLY

Flower, pre-rolls, edibles, carts and more.
These 4 Days of 420 are for you.
• House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has issued a final warning to Trump: Either resign now or face an impeachment vote next week. Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska is the first Republican to call for the president to resign, saying, "I want him out." (SAME!) Meanwhile Trump hasn't said anything other than he won't be attending Biden's inauguration—which I guess means he won't get a gift bag!
• To the surprise of no one, Trump extremists are planning on attending Biden's inauguration—but unlike the Capitol, this event will be guarded by the FBI, Secret Service, and more who will not be putting up with an ounce of traitorous bullshit.

Boomers are often guilty of being messy on Facebook—but one boomer who's also a member of the Oregon Legislature seems to have set a new gold standard in the category.
On Thursday, Oregon Speaker of the House Tina Kotek told reporters that there is reason to believe Rep. Mike Nearman—a Republican representing Polk County—intentionally helped right-wing demonstrators gain access to the State Capitol on December 21.
The Oregon Legislature had convened that day for a special session focused on COVID-19 and wildfire relief. A group of right-wing demonstrators gathered outside the Capitol, ostensibly to protest Gov. Kate Brown’s response to the pandemic. The demonstrations quickly turned violent, and was declared an unlawful assembly by the Oregon State Police (OSP).
