Hayward fault. No one was injured and it did not cause any serious damage. But it did rattle more than a few nurse. Our reporter is in berkeley where he talks to people who live near the epicenter. Reporter seismologists place the epicenter pretty much here in front of the Claremont Hotel about eight miles down. Millions of people no doubt got a rude awakening in the bay area. But it did frazzle some nerves. It was just a quick jolt. And then it just kind of shook for a minute and that was it. I just waited for it to be over. Reporter the seismology lab, earthquake Early Warning system sounded the alert this morning but because the epicenter was in berkeley the warning time was limited. The farther seismic waves travel, the longer the warning. The earthquake was right under berkeley. People in oakland would get one or two seconds of warning. In San Francisco about three seconds. Reporter seismologists here say even a second or two of warning is much better than none...

This may be one where the Santa Cruz Mountains and the Russian River get a lot more but a steady rain. For others it will only be a couple one hundredths. This will give us a lot of clouds.
