Skies right over San Francisco. You can see out to the bay bridge that hurts our no cloud cover no fog evident out there. What we are seeing across the region though is the sliding cold front that is moving its way to our north so all things are quiet here in the bay but lets zoom out across the region and look at what we have to our north that there that you see right along the oregon border is some rain snow mix mostly isolated to areas like modoc county and then some rain up in del norte and humboldt counties but if youre traveling i 5 up to the oregon border at some point today, especially north of redding getting closer and closer to that border itself watch out for some slick conditions. This morning. Thats about the only problem area that were going to have the state before thanksgiving the bay area itself well be cooperative nice and dry and pretty nice to be stepping outside yet again. Reporter Paul Lowenthal is the assistant fire marshal at the fire house. They have been positioned so if a fire does break out, they can quickly respond in order to keep the fires from spreading. But he says the big concern is the wind going to the property below and also reaching in the areas. We have three years of regrowth, so there is a lot of seasonal grasses and brush that is regrown, and that area does remain a concern for us. Reporter according to lowenthal, because pg e have reduced the amount of customers who will have their power cut, it means more energized lines which can pose a risk. Part of our planning is knowing that our city will remain energized, so that has us on high alert. There is the potential that we could have fires as a result of high power lines. They spent the week clearing their house, garage and attic. They say its going to be a tough season. Were exhausted. Today i spent more time cutting down more ....
A very good morning to you. Thanks so much for joining us this monday morning. Im laura garcia. We went on an extra 30 minutes early this morning at 4 00 a. M. Just because of this red flag warning. Im kris sanchez in for marcus washington. We are seeing some vegetation fires pop up overnight. Kari hall is watching those winds. And the high fire danger will continue throughout this morning as weve seen the high wind gusts especially in our upper elevations and the wind advisory will expire at 11 00 but the rest of the day will be breezy as we see the winds gusting for even our valleys up to 50 miles an hour. This red flag warning will continue for today. Up until tomorrow morning so were still looking at breezy winds and some very dry air.
