Of my bikes officers engaged in the community and addressing crime issues every night. Here he was at 52nd and master streets last night tracking down a man police connected to drug activity. Investigators say the man told caustic, quote, i dont want to have to do this before shooting his weapon prompting the officer to return fire. I can only surmise that he didnt want to be caught. Police say their suspect has a long criminal history, mostly with drug crime. Investigators plan to charge him soon as doctors continue to treat his gun shot injuries. Back at his hospital room the mayor stopped by to wish him well. And the entire Police Department says its been overwhelmed by the kind and encouraging words following another example of the risks officers take to protect this city. They just want to say thanks for everybodys support, all the well wishes, the prayers. And his bosses here at the 19th district dont expect him to be off ....
