SHARING OPTIONS: Six of the Na Cailleacha women are artists, one is a musician and another is an art writer and curator. The experiences of older women will be explored in a new exhibition and accompanying symposium (an informal conference) coming to the South Tipperary Arts Centre (STAC) in May. The exhibition is the work of Na Cailleacha (The Witches), a collective of eight older, creative women. They are all based in Ireland, but come from Holland, England and Switzerland, as well as Ireland. Six of the women are artists, one is a musician and another is an art writer and curator.
It’s been a brain-stretching 12 months. In March, I secured my PhD in epidemiology. By November, I was in the throes of another in immunology. Despite a week-long diversion into stock-broking during the people’s war on hedge funds, not to mention the emergency diploma in EU contract law dissecting the AstraZeneca row, I’m now in the antigen test trenches where people with actual PhDs (unlike mine from the University of Social Media) are tearing each other apart.
