And this is the year of the revolution that probably more people supported the war than any other one. Why do you suppose theres so much support for the war this year . Any ideas . They havent really started fighting yet. They havent started fighting yet. They dont know what war is going to mean. Anybody else, any ideas . Some of it, this is like fury. And i have some images to show you. Theres a historian named charles roister and he coined this phrase, rage militaire. And it says, the rage militaire has taken hold on the entire continent. The americans are fighting mad. Its a wild passion. What is rage . Go ahead. Anger. Intense anger. The americans are really furious. All this stuff has been building up

This National Historical park was established to celebrate activities and events that took place april 19th, 1775. Behind me is something called north bridge. This is what is considered to be the beginning of the american revolution. It was here that americans, colonial militia, if youve will, and british regulars will encounter one another, shots fired, lives lost on both sides, more importantly, its where the colonial militia was ordered to fire upon the kings troops, creating in essence an act of treason. Massachusetts was a royal colony. There had been tensions growing with the mother country since really the 1770s. Had been building since colonial times to the clerk of the house. He was directed to create a list of books to include in the votes and proceedings of march 18, 1776. He was further directed quote to procure at the expense of the legislature a suitable case for the keeping and preservation of such books. He was also directed to make sure basically that he safeguarded and preserve the material as well and its this early collection of veaux that actually is the foundation of the state state Library Research collection today. I am often asked which is the oldest book in the state library collection. We do have the pamphlets from 1496 which is the oldest item but its only seven pages long so we dont featured as a book. Our oldest book is this one. Its a living history of rome. It was created in 1635 in switzerland and the interesting thing about this book is it has a legend with it and as often is the case legends are not true or turn out to be only partially true and the legend of this bo
