As Ellen Mensch reflects on Artlink Contemporary Gallery's 41st National Print Exhibition, she notes how the 60 selected artists show different facets of the printmaking.
“I think this year what strikes me the most about the exhibition is just how versatile the medium of printmaking is,” says the gallery's exhibitions and marketing coordinator. The exhibition includes traditional and modern techniques.
Among the 63 works on display through May 2 is “Child's Play,” a stop-motion animation by Raluca Iancu of Ames, Iowa. It was made with linocuts and CNC-cut woodcuts.
“Child's Play” was given the third place award by juror Ruth Lingen of New York. First place was given to Santa Fe, New Mexico, artist Enrique Figueredo's “Paveando en mi Cadillac antibalas (Cruising in My Bulletproof Cadillac)” lithograph, and in second place is a cyanotype work, “Sfumato No. 322,” by Brent Dedas of Columbia, South Carolina.
