(Reuters) -Europe's drug regulator has found a possible link between Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine and rare blood clotting issues in adults who received doses in the United States, but backed its overall benefits against any risks.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said on Tuesday its safety committee had concluded that a warning about unusual blood clots with low platelets must be added to the vaccine's labels, just as it has also required of rival vaccine maker AstraZeneca.
The review of the cases prompted a pause in the rollout of the vaccine in Europe and the United States last week, the latest blow to efforts to tackle the pandemic, which has killed more than 3.1 million and infected 142.1 million worldwide.

J&J to reintroduce vaccine exports to Europe after green

Johnson & Johnson has resumed its Covid-19 vaccine to Europe after an African health agency confirmed that the benefits were even greater despite realizing that there was a “possible connection” between the jab and the missing blood clots.
European Medicines Agency He said Tuesday that the combination of anemia with platelet counts should be added to the list of side effects from the J&J jab. However, it added that the overall benefits of the shotgun vaccine outweighed the risk of this.
J&J is set to resume shipments of 200m vaccines to the EU, Norway and Iceland and to update its data on monitoring and monitoring “rare cases”.

ZURICH (Reuters) - A German scientist studying extremely rare blood clots linked to AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine said on Tuesday Johnson & Johnson has agreed to work with him on the research after similar serious side effects emerged in recipients of its shot.
Andreas Greinacher, a transfusion medicine expert at Greifswald University, announced the collaboration after the European Medicines Agency said it would add a label to J&J's vaccine warning of unusual blood clots with low platelet counts. AstraZeneca's shot has a similar warning.

EU medicines watchdog finds possible link between J&J vaccine, blood clots - World News

BRUSSELS, April 20 (Xinhua) -- The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said on Tuesday it had found a "possible link" between the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine and cases of blood clots, but insisted that its benefits outweigh the risks.
"A careful review of the cases and other available evidence has led us to affirm that these blood clotting disorders are very rare side effects of the vaccine," said Sabine Straus, president of the EMA's safety committee, at a press conference.
On April 13, the medicines watchdog of the European Union (EU) was informed of eight serious cases of unusual blood clots associated with low levels of blood platelets, one of which had a fatal outcome. All the cases occurred in the United States, where over seven million people received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
