Reliance, affiliates buy 3/4 of KG-D6 gas volumes

Synopsis
Reliance and its partner UK's BP Plc last week auctioned 5.5 million standard cubic meters per day of incremental gas from the newer discoveries in the KG-D6 block, benchmarking it to a gas marker. Reliance's oil-to-chemical (O2C) business unit picked up 3.2 mmscmd gas in the auction, three sources with direct knowledge of the development said.

BP Proves Natural Gas, Oil Still Reign as Profits Triple on Henry Hub, Brent Prices

BP Proves Natural Gas, Oil Still Reign as Profits Triple on Henry Hub, Brent Prices
With natural gas and oil trading crushing it in the first quarter, BP plc proved that even as it transitions to net zero emissions, it’s still a major fossil fuel producer, with rising global demand likely to accelerate profits through the year.
The London-based operator, which now prefers to be tagged as an “integrated energy major,” saw its profits more than triple on stronger Henry Hub natural gas and global oil prices. The  underlying replacement cost profit was $2.6 billion in 1Q2021, versus $100 million in 4Q2020, driven by “exceptional gas marketing and trading performance,” along with higher oil prices and refining margins.

Reliance, BP start second gas field off India
Reliance Industries (RIL) and UK major BP have started production from the Satellite Cluster gas field in block KG D6 off the east coast of India, the companies said on April 26. The Satellite Cluster is the second of the three developments to come onstream, following the start-up of R Cluster in December 2020.
RIL and BP are developing three deepwater gas projects at KG D6 – R Cluster, Satellites Cluster and MJ – which together are expected to meet about 15% of India’s gas demand by 2023. These projects will utilise the existing hub infrastructure in KG D6 block. RIL is the operator with a 66.67% participating interest and BP holds a 33.33% participating interest.
