With most cinemas across the country shuttered because of the coronavirus pandemic, marquees have pivoted to display messages of hope, but the spaces along their exteriors designed to display promotional posters have mostly remained a graveyard for delayed 2020 releases. However, a few theaters across the country have unveiled a line-up of cheeky posters edited to reflect the unique challenge currently facing the country.

A survey of 1,000 registered voters across the Bay Area has revealed significant cultural and geographical differences in coronavirus vaccine opposition.
According to the poll, conducted by the Bay Area Council, a public-policy advocacy organization, of the 57% who said they haven’t yet been vaccinated, 21% said they definitely or probably won’t get vaccinated. This is likely to pose a challenge for public health officials working to end the pandemic by achieving herd immunity, though according the the World Health Organization it is not yet known what percentage of the population needs to be vaccinated to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19.

I'm unvaccinated. Are indoor activities, such as dining, safe?

As the vaccine rollout accelerates and infection rates drop in California, the state is beginning to reopen, with indoor dining now available in all nine San Francisco Bay Area counties and everything from movie theaters to gyms welcoming people back indoors.
People who have received the vaccine can step inside newly opened businesses with the reassurance that their chances of catching the virus are very low, especially if they follow public health guidelines and wear masks. (It's still unknown how readily they transmit the virus to unvaccinated people, though there's increasing evidence that it's likely very little.)

On Aug. 6, 2016, Tyler Turner, an 18-year-old from Los Banos who had just graduated high school with a 4.3 grade point average, went skydiving for the first time to celebrate a friend's birthday.
Turner jumped in tandem with an instructor. The parachute did not open, and the two hit the ground with a fatal impact. Deputies found the bodies in a vineyard just south of the center’s landing zone. It was later revealed by the Sacramento Bee that the instructor reportedly did not have a proper license.

The future of the 2021 edition of Burning Man is still up in the air, but up until last week, it looked like fans of artful, off-grid experiences in the desert had another option.
The Everywhen Project bills itself as "a surreal camping & art festival" that takes place in ... Black Rock Desert, Nevada, the same general location as Burning Man, in a 2 mile area they’ve dubbed Mandala City. It was listed to take place from July 25 to Aug. 2 with capacity for 15,000 attendees, but with the caveat that their permit is still pending. That didn’t stop them from selling tickets at $273 each for the event, subtitled the Electric Universe.
