supreme court: Delhi Excise Policy Scam: SC grills CBI & ED, asks how money laundering case made out against Manish Sisodia

The Supreme Court of India questioned the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate about the Delhi excise policy 'scam' and the involvement of former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia. The court stated that a policy change does not imply corruption unless there is an element of bribery involved. The court also raised questions about the evidence connecting Sisodia to the alleged proceeds of crime and the charge of money laundering.

Supreme Court asks ED to explain why AAP, the alleged beneficiary of excise policy 'scam', not made accused in money laundering case

The Supreme Court has questioned why the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which allegedly benefitted from the Delhi Excise Policy 'scam', has not been made an accused in the money laundering case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has claimed that the AAP used Rs 100 crore received as kickbacks for its campaign in the 2022 Goa assembly elections. The court asked the ED to explain why the political party has not been made an accused in the case. The hearing on the bail pleas of former deputy chief minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia will continue on Thursday.
