Journalist Tania Branigan wins the richest award in nonfiction, the Cundill History Prize, for her study of China's Cultural Revolution.
From its eight-title shortlist, the Cundill History Prize has put forward three finalists, the winner to be named on Thursday (November 8).
The Cundill History Prize's 2023 shortlist is evenly divided between trade and university presses, finalists to be named October 16.
A shortlist for the 2023 Cundill History Prize is expected from the jury in late September, finalists in October, a winner in November.
