LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Since its beginnings in Jamaica in 1959, the story of the pioneering Island Records label has been inextricably linked to the story of its founder, Chris Blackwell. On February 26, Island Records / UMe will release Volume One of
The Vinyl Series, a 14-track album covering the years 1962 to 1969. Volumes Two and Three will follow later this year and explore Island's history in the decades that followed.

“When I moved Island Records’ base from Kingston to London in 1962, all I wanted to do at first was just release the really great music that was coming out of Jamaica,” writes Blackwell in the collection’s liner notes. “But then I got caught up in all the music that I was hearing in London, much of it from America.”

OUR TERRIBLE MUSIC LOSSES
With Trump soon walking away (we pray!), our great relief has to be muted by the incredible carnage he left behind. As we all know, he did nothing about the coronavirus when it was so needed in the beginning, when it would have made a huge difference. He saw it as a political calculation, not hundreds of thousands of American lives lost and the pain of all those families.
If he had done nothing it would have been so much better, than the damage done by calling it a hoax and making simple, vital precautions a sign of weakness and opposition to him. He was a catalyst. Mocking masks, dozens of super-spreader events in his name. He just didn’t care.
