Councillor Martin McLeavy's plea to combat dog fouling in Roosecote

ROOSEGATE councillors are working together to improve the area and combat dog fouling.
Barrow Borough Councillors Martin McLeavy and Jay Zaccarini, along with Cumbria County Councillor Derek Gawne, Streetcare's Maria Green and a representative of CCC Highways held a walkabout around of North and South Row, and the Stonedyke Lane area to take a look at issues such as dog fouling in the community.
Cllr McLeavy said he was pleased to not find any dog muck, but said that residents had been cleaning areas at the bottom of South Row "three to four times a day", whom he praised saying: "It's really good of people to go out there and do that."

Roosecote Community Hub meets with police to reduce speeding and anti-social behaviour issues

A community group is taking steps to eliminate speeding and anti-social behaviour in Roosecote.
After meeting with Cumbria police, Roosecote Community Hub is now planning to launch a community speed watch campaign.
The group’s founder, Paul Griffiths said certain roads in the area have become renowned for speeding.
He said: "The residents highlighted three main areas of concern.
"Leece Lane, Rampside Road by the exits of North and South Row and Rampside Village.
"Rampside have had to buy their own 'slow down' signs, so we hope with police support we can establish a community speed watch group of volunteers and that conversation started last night as we had a police officer join our meeting."

HAVE you ever fancied adopting a red phone box and maybe using it to save lives?
You could do just that if you decide to adopt one of five local phone boxes in the Dunfermline and West Fife area for as little as £1.
BT has revealed this week that nearly 600 of its iconic red phone boxes across Scotland are up for grabs as it urges local communities to take advantage of a scheme to help transform them for the 21st century.
Since 2008, a total of 482 of them across the country have been taken on by communities for just £1 each through BT’s Adopt a Kiosk programme.
