Case count surpasses 956,000 At least 956,932 people in North Carolina have tested positive for the coronavirus, and 12,523 have died since March 2020, according to state health officials. The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services reported 2,167 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, down from 2,236 reported the day before. Eighteen additional coronavirus-related deaths were reported Friday. Deaths don t all occur on the day the state reports them. The state health department revises its daily figures as information becomes available. ....
WILMINGTON Billy Earl “Bill” Miller, 84, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare. Bill was born July 12, 1936, in Robeson County, a son of the late Anderson Brooks Miller and Donnie Mae (Edwards) Miller. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorothy Blackburn Miller; daughter, Jerri Miller of Castle Hayne; sons, Gary Miller of Wilmington and Steve Grady, and his wife, Marla, of Wilmington; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War era and then served several years in active reserves. He founded a local family subcontracting business that his sons still carry on today. He was a longstanding member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church and served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and on many church committees, as well as volunteered in many other capacities to serve for his Lord.
