Navy seizes narcotics worth Rs 3,000 crore from fishing vessel | India News

KOCHI: The Indian Navy has seized narcotics worth Rs 3,000 crore from a fishing vessel, suspected to be of foreign origin, in the Arabian sea, a Defence spokesman said here on Monday. He said that Indian Naval Ship 'Suvarna' whilst on surveillance patrol in the Arabian Sea, encountered the fishing vessel moving around in a suspicious manner.
"To investigate the vessel, the ships team conducted a boarding and search operation, which led to the seizure of more than 300 kg of narcotics substances", he said.

14 Films, including two Malayalam entries, to compete for Suvarna Chakoram at IFFK
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 6 (UNI) This year’s edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) will have four Indian films vying with each other for the prestigious Suvarna Chakoram (Golden Crow Pheasant Award), the laurel for the best film of the festival. The 25th IFFK begins in Thiruvananthapuram on February 10.
Among the two Malayalam films in this category, Lijo Jose Pellissery's ‘Churuli’ will have its World Premiere at the festival. Meanwhile, Jayaraj’s ‘Hasyam’, the other Malayalam film in the competition category, had been screened at various other film festivals, including the Shanghai International Film Festival.
