it was quite a grim meghan i showed up pretty light to the studio because i was that home watching the end of that game. certainly a nail-biter but nonetheless this morning obviously for a lot of team usa found so walk us through it. >> yes it was a tough loss bullet team usa came out hot within the first two and a half minutes of the, game we saw christian pulisic fire at the goal, not connecting with the back of the net. by the end of the furnace, often netherlands were up to zero. team usa was able to score in the second half but with just minutes left and the second half. the netherlands fired another goal winning 3 to 1. and of course team usa was the underdog but yasmin, as you haven't i've been talking, this is been the tournament of the underdogs. we have seen the upsets, what inspired team usa fans making them believe that there was a shot tonight. that the team could've pulled off this win and in the end of course, it did not go that way. as you mentioned, no fans looking at the bigger picture.

underdog, but i tell you what, man, you have some of the best players in the world on your team. and you're representing this country. i know you're going to play your hearts out, so let's go shock 'em all. >> amanda davies in doha. america hasn't played in the tournament in a while but wales hasn't played in more than 60 years. really is the match of the underdogs. >> reporter: yes, it is, max. but with the u.s. having the youngest squad in this tournament, perhaps they should take 80-year-old joe biden up on his offer to add a little experience to this team. they got that phone call at the same time over the weekend as they were receiving messages of support from families back at home. and of course they had those massive ted lasso billboards, the players in their hometowns cheering them on as you mentioned their first world cup appearance in eight years having missed out in russia in 2018. it's a young, experienced but really, really talented u.s.
