CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A judge Tuesday ordered former Indians outfielder Trevor Crowe to serve three years of probation for failing to report more than $309,000 in illegal gambling income on his taxes.
Crowe, 37, apologized before U.S. District Judge Patricia Gaughan and acknowledged that he has struggled with addiction. His attorney, Lee Stein, said in documents that while Crowe’s dependency on opioids “contributed to the poor decision-making that brings him before the Court, it is in no way an excuse for the conduct. He alone is responsible for that.”
