Malcolm Turnbull Dropped As Chair of Clean Energy Board

Malcolm Turnbull Dropped As Chair of Clean Energy Board
Former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has been removed from his position as chair of the New South Wales (NSW) Net-Zero Emissions and Clean Economy Board, only a week after his appointment.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said that while she admired and respected Turnbull, his appointment “unfortunately for everyone concerned … was proving to be a distraction.”
The removal came hours after The Daily Telegraph published a letter from Turnbull objecting to the expansion of a coal mine in the upper Hunter Valley region near his personal property.
Turnbull said he and his wife made the submission as “long-term landowners in the district and in no other capacity” and rejected any conflict of interest.

NZ Commerce Commission completes consumer mobile phone bills review
Featured
New Zealand’s competition enforcement agency, The Commerce Commission, has completed its review of consumer mobile phone bills following feedback from the telecommunications industry on their plans for providing customers with more “meaningful product and service comparisons” and to guard against overspending.
Completion of the review comes after the Commission published an open letter in September 2020, asking telcos Spark, Vodafone and 2degrees to share their customer service plans. This was accompanied by a report from Schiff Consulting, aspects of which were later contested by the industry.

iTWire - Synology all-flash storage solutions: three key benefits

COMPANY NEWS from Synology: Traditional HDD storage arrays are quickly giving way to all-flash arrays (AFA) as businesses need the low latency and high IOPS provided by solid-state drives to store growing pools and new types of data for increasingly demanding applications. However, choosing suitable servers is not always easy.
All-flash storage is designed for high-performance applications, placing high demands on product innovation and stability. For many businesses and teams, that often translates to prices that stretch their IT budget. However, AFA arrays provide tangible benefits that can boost your operational efficiency and competitiveness.
Cost is a major obstacle to purchasing their first AFA solution for many companies. Will new IT infrastructure bring enough value to your company? And how fast will your investment repay itself? Luckily, with more vendors entering the market, prices and total cost of ownership for flash arrays are on a downward trend.

Reveals A/NZ expansion, Jemena as customer.
Former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s investment company, Turnbull & Partners, has put money behind industrial cyber security vendor Dragos, which unveiled a local expansion.
Turnbull made the investment in Dragos’ series C funding round in December last year, though it was not disclosed at the time.
In a video released today, Turnbull said the cyber threat to operational technology “has never been greater than it is today”.
“In an entirely connected world there are so many vital systems - industrial control systems or operational technology - that are really vulnerable to adversaries,” he said.

Using compulsory superannuation to help Australians get onto the property ladder will see property prices soar, creating more inequality, a former prime minister has stated.
With the housing market entering a boom, policymakers are debating whether superannuation could possibly help those priced out get a foot in the market.
Stats released by CoreLogic show that Sydney recently eclipsed its 2017 highs, with the median price for a property in Sydney reaching $895,933.
Elsewhere, figures released by CoreLogic show a 2.1 per cent increase in national dwelling prices for February.

Hawkes Bay Today
An estimated 7000 drawings belonging to renowned Hawke's Bay architect John Scott are now archived at the Alexander Turnbull Library. Futuna Trust chairman and architect Nick Bevin charts the events that led to the generous gifting of this drawing taonga by the Scott whānau.
On a blustery afternoon in early September, a white van backed into the dock-way at the Alexander Turnbull Library in Wellington.
The van had travelled from Haumoana in Hawke's Bay. At the wheel was Jacob Scott, eldest son of architect John Scott, accompanied by his brother Adam. In the van were 67 A1 AGFA photographic paper boxes: 50 red, 12 green and five yellow. In the boxes lay upwards of 7000 original drawings by John Scott and his staff, covering all his projects (more than 200) over the years of his architectural practice.
